The reel is a huge factor in this. If I have to choose one gear ratio for swimbaits in general for the end of time it is a 6.4:1 gear ratio real. You can slow down when you need to and speed up when you need to. If you're throwing a 5 and you have one knock 4 foot of slack in your line good luck getting a hook in him. I would rather discipline my hand to reel the bait slower and have the ability to take up slack when I need to.
