Guntersville Fishing Report - March 15, 2017
Water Temperature: 60
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet
This report is for the following day after the cold front through the BFL. These were absolute post frontal conditions. We caught 5 solid fish in a short 4 hour trip with my buddy Jeffrey! He is one heck of a young angler! He always catches them. Wind was blowing almost 20mph, and the best bait was a trap. We could only get them to react to baits rather than eat it. They would be hooked in the outside of the face or on the bottom lip. We targeted deeper grass in 6-8 FOW near spawning flats. The following day when I practiced for the BFL the wind was howling and I didn't find any new areas. During the BFL I pulled up and caught my big one on the 3rd cast and then caught 2-3lbers all day. Had a blast catching fish. Focused on a 1/4 ounce True Lock with a True Bass 4.5 in R2D2 and a red Trap. That was my one two punch. Fishing the same areas that we had some big days in during cold last week. Ended up in 27th with 13 and a half. Big congrats to Triston Crowder with a top 5 finish in the BFL with 21 lbs! Said he caught his big one in the morning on the Big Head 7.5 True Bass, and then threw a trap.
Then I had a trip Sunday on Wheeler, Pickwick Monday, then back to Guntersville this past Tuesday, and we caught em! That ones next.
