Hot Summer Fishing - Lake Guntersville 2016

Water Temperature: 87
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

This report is for the past week on Guntersville. I had some clients that have never fished for largemouth before or threw a baitcaster or spinning rod, and let alone detect a bite! Within a few hours we were casting great and setting the hook on some fish. It was a father son that made some great memories learning how to fish with artificial lures for bass.

The best lures of choice ranges from swimbaits, tightline jigs, Rapala DT 16 crankbaits, and big worms. Fish are definitely ready for cooler weather. There are periods where its dead for a few hours and then they fire off and bite on every stop. Fishing definitely requires patience during the late summer/ early fall bite. Lows will start dropping into the 60s next week which should pick up the bite even more. Topwaters around the edges of the grass and weedless true bass swimbaits should be the ticket. Just rig it on an 1/8 to 1/4 ounce wide gap VMC belly weight around the grass.

If you want to learn how to target late summer bass or just want to have fun on the water give me a call! I have dates available. Lets go!
