Guntersville Grass Flipping & Bullshad - July 2, 2015

Water Temperature: 84
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

Guntersville has the water temperatures making a comeback after the torrential rains that lowered the water temperature 10 degrees. With the water temps now hovering at 84-86 degrees.

Grass update: The matted grass is coming on strong off the main channel. Not completely topped out but I would say we are around half way there. They should be done within the month. Each day the grass looks different on the surface its growing so fast. Hydrilla is the most prevalent on the main channel, milfoil is "slightly" harder to find but it is there and when you find it there will be a plethora, and coontail is scattered throughout the lake mixed within the hydrilla and milfoil.

We are catching our fish out of grass lines tapering into deep water with True Bass swimbaits 4.5 in ICU and 99 Problems. Throw it out on a weedless belly weighted swimbait hook and you can burn it over the top of the grass (they will smash it) or you can slow roll it over the deeper edges. It has caught 2 personal bests for my clients over the past 2 weeks! We are also catching bullshad fish, big worm fish, and the flipping bite is on its way. I like to flip a 1.5 ounce vmc weight and 5/0 VMC flipping hook with any craw type bait on the back that is slender enough to get through the grass.

I have days available to take you fishing. Let go!
